Guide to Renting Student Accommodation in Lille
Booking & Availability
How do I book a student room in Lille?
You can book directly on our website by filling in the application form on the ‘Book’ page. If your pre-application is accepted, you’ll receive login details to complete your file online. Once your documents are verified, you’ll officially become a tenant.
Can I visit the student flatshare before booking?
Due to high demand, in-person visits are not available before booking. However, you’ll find very detailed information on our website including photos, 3D virtual tours, equipment lists, brochures, and full room descriptions.
How far in advance should I book my room in Lille?
We strongly recommend booking as early as possible, especially for the September university intake, as rooms fill up very quickly.
Do I need a guarantor to rent a room in France as an international student?
Yes, a guarantor is generally required. If you are an international student without a guarantor based in France, we accept guarantor services such as GarantMe, SmartGarant and Cautioneo solutions specifically designed for foreign students renting in France.
Are there any agency fees?
No. MyLilleHome charges zero agency fees. No hidden costs, no application fees the price you see is the price you pay.
Rental Conditions
What is the minimum rental period?
The minimum rental period is one semester, making our rooms ideal for Erasmus students, exchange programmes, and international internships.
Are the apartments fully furnished?
Yes, all our rooms are fully furnished and equipped: bed, desk, chair, fully fitted kitchen and basic appliances. For the full equipment list, please check each room’s listing.
Note: personal items such as bed linen are not provided.
Are all bills included in the rent?
Yes, all utilities are included in the rent: water, electricity, internet and maintenance of common areas.
The only exception is the French taxe d’habitation (approximately €150 per year per room), which applies if you are a resident in France on January 1st of the current year.
Are pets allowed?
Unfortunately, pets are not allowed in any of our student flatshares.
Is smoking allowed in the accommodation?
No, all our properties are strictly non-smoking. Outdoor spaces are generally available at most locations.
Payment & Deposit
Why do room prices sometimes differ?
Room prices may vary slightly depending on the room’s features, such as bed size, room size, or private en-suite bathroom.

How much do I need to pay at the time of booking?
To confirm your application, you will need to pay the security deposit and your first month’s rent.
What is the amount of the security deposit?
The security deposit is €650 for all our properties.
When will I get my security deposit back?
Your security deposit will be returned within a maximum of one month after your departure, provided the accommodation is returned in good condition.
This period may be extended to two months if any deductions are made.
How do I pay my rent?
Through your online tenant portal, you will find all the necessary information to send your monthly rent by bank transfer.
Can I apply for CAF housing benefit (APL/ALS) as an international student?
Yes, most of our properties are eligible for CAF housing benefit (APL or ALS). We will provide you with the necessary certificate to submit your online application. This benefit is available to international students studying in France and can significantly reduce your monthly rent.
What happens to my payment if I can no longer come?
We strongly advise you to confirm your situation before booking.
In the event of cancellation, the amount paid is non-refundable, as your booking blocks the room and prevents us from accepting other applications.
Accommodation & Daily Life
Do I need to take out home insurance?
No, your rent is all-inclusive! MyLilleHome arranges home insurance on your behalf. There is nothing extra to organise on your end.
What does the home insurance cover?
he insurance covers damage caused by a tenant in their private room or in the common areas such as the kitchen.
Please note that household appliances or electronic devices (oven, television, etc.) are not covered.
If damage occurs in a common area and no individual is identified as responsible, repair costs are shared among all flatmates.
The insurance also covers most water damage.
How does cleaning work in the shared flat?
Each tenant is responsible for cleaning their own room and, where applicable, their shared bathroom.
In the kitchen, everyone cleans up after themselves and takes part in taking out the bins.
The landlord may occasionally arrange a cleaning service for common areas such as the entrance, stairways and kitchen.
Is heating included in the rent?
Yes, heating is included in the rent under normal use. Please note that excessive energy consumption may result in an additional charge.
Are the apartments equipped with crockery and kitchen utensils?
Yes, all our properties come fully equipped with crockery, cookware and kitchen utensils.
